Increase the Value of Your House—Metal Steel Roofing Pays Off the Highest Return

Many people have decided the best way to protect their housing investment and save money is to stay in their current house. There’s good news, you can increase the value of your house by carefully considering the maintenance investments you make.  One of the best opportunities for a great payback on your investment can be found in putting metal steel roofing on your house. If you’re looking at a new roof considering the change from asphalt shingles to metal steel roofing can provide a big payoff.

Here in the North Country our roofs are vulnerable to the weather and insurance claims.  We have wind, hail, and fire. You see asphalt shingles on neighbor’s roofs or other homes while out for a drive that are curled, splitting, and molding. For most of us that brings the question home: How old is my roof? Typically, your asphalt roof could last for 12-15+ years, but with the right weather elements. Plus putting snow, ice dams, snow weight on the roof causes a whole new host of worries that result from snow. Because when we get the heaviest wettest snows out come the ladders, snow rakes, the calls to the roof snow removal crews, and the envy of those neighbor’s with the heating rods on their roofs.

Lighten up your worries, time, and save your back with metal steel roofing from Quarve, the Minneapolis, Minnesota Remodeling Contractor who can install a Modern Durable Alternative energy efficient roof that will make your roof virtually resistant to weather and will increase your house’s fire resistance.  You may qualify for a homeowner’s insurance discount because your insurance company will know you put on a steel roof that is going to stay put and is maintenance free. Plus, you’ll get a green roof since metal steel roofs are made from natural and recycled materials.

Call Quarve 763-785-1472 today the Minneapolis exterior remodeling contractor to help with your roofing, siding, or replacement windows and doors for your St. Paul/Minneapolis home.

St Louis Park The Victim of Door To Door Roofing Contractors

When we have hail storms and damage like we did this spring, there is always a rash of door to door contractors, looking for work after the winds die down. Many times these people are transient, who use someone else’s MN license, while they promise to share the profits with them. The problem is that these people are often not included in the insurance coverage, so if they should slip and fall off the roof, you can be held liable.

Often times they ask if they can give you a “free estimate”, but before you agree to anything, make sure you know who you are dealing with. Ask to see a legitimate MN contractor’s license. If it is theirs, it will have an affiliated insurance policy ensuring that they are covered if something should go wrong.

Many of these types of storm chasers will even rent temporary office space in the city that has just experienced some damaging weather, and stick around only until the work holds out, then they close shop and move on. Sometimes they are real roofers; sometimes they are painters, out of work, looking for anyway to make money during the off season.

Before you sign anything, make sure you are working with a reputable, local company that has been in business for at least 10 years. This way you can be sure that if something should go wrong, you will have some legitimate recourse. Never sign anything until you read through it completely. Transient companies often have clauses that stipulate all legal action must take place in their home town that happens to be on the other side of the country. Make sure all estimates are detailed, spelling out exactly what will be completed, and work in conjunction with your insurance agent to help protect you from some items you may not completely understand.

If you want to avoid all the skepticism, contact Quarve Contracting, this way you won’t have to worry about any of that. We have been in the Minneapolis metro area for over 27 years and know our business well. Make sure you are in good hands, contact us for your free storm damage estimate and we will take care of everything. 763-785-1472

Flat Roofs Need A Special MN Contractor – Minneapolis and St Paul Metro

Since flat roofs are as they say- flat, they will not drain water away like a traditional sloped roof will. For this reason, they need a special contractor who will understand the kinds of things that can go wrong after he has left. In reality, flat roofs do have a slight slope to them, but if not installed by someone with a lot of flat roof repair experience they will still allow water to pool, and that will lead to eventual leaks inside the building.

Flat roofs will last a little longer than a traditional style of roof, as long as they are maintained well, and given a certain amount of care. In particular, the BUR style of roofing (built up with tar and gravel) can last as long as 30 years or more. There are even some still around from the early 1900’s.

Care and maintenance includes basically routine inspections. At least once a year, twice a year would be better and certainly after any severe weather. Particular attention should be paid to see if there were any heavy objects that fell on it, and if any penetrations occurred. Flashing around the tops of chimneys and vents should also be looked at closely, to see if there are any small gaps or openings allowing water to seep in.

If a flat roof is made of metal, there will be seams laid out in it, and these should also be inspected closely to see if any of them have split or worked their way open. Simple repairs like these will make these issues seem as though there were no issues at all, and will help keep the life of your roof intact much longer than if you close your eyes to them.

The key is to use a company that has experience in Minneapolis St Paul flat roof repairs. Quarve Contracting in Minneapolis has this experience, and a whole lot more. Give us a call to learn more about how to care for your flat roof repairs, or any style of roofing. We will take care if it all. 763-785-1472

Don’t Ignore Potential Hail Damage | St Paul Minneapolis Roof Repair Contractor

The recent storms in the Twin Cities metro area and northern suburbs produced tornadoes, high winds, heavy rain, and reports of hailstones up to golf-ball size.  Hail always has the potential of producing damage to roofs and other parts of a building’s exterior—even pea-sized hail can cause granule loss to asphalt roofing.  But larger hail can also:

  • Produce cracks not only in the roofing material but in the underlayment and roof structure itself
  • Damage the underlying membrane and insulation
  • Cause damage to metal roof accessories such as chimney flashing, vent stack pipes, and ridge vents
  • Crack skylights
  • Dislodge single shingles, ridge caps, or entire sections of roofing materials
  • Dent and/or chip siding, gutters, soffit, and  fascia

Even a very small crack can indicate hidden damage.  Only an experienced roof damage professional can tell you for sure.  The experienced Minnesota storm damage repair experts at Quarve Contracting have been assessing and repairing hail-damaged roofs and siding in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area for over 27 years.   And they know how important timely repairs are in this storm-prone Minnesota spring season.  Undetected and unrepaired damage from this last storm can be severely compounded when the next storm hits.

Don’t take a chance with your home.  If you live in one of the St. Paul/Minneapolis communities or surrounding suburbs affected by these recent hailstorms, don’t put off a post-storm inspection.  Minor repairs made soon can prevent further damage.  Contact the experienced professionals at Quarve today for a free estimate.   They are fully insured and licensed.  Their roofing crews have been highly trained and certified.  And Quarve routinely works with insurance adjusters to make sure claims are handled quickly and fairly.  Their commitment to exceptional customer service means they’ll work hard to make sure you’ll be on their long list of satisfied customers.

Storm Roofing Repair Contractor Serving Edina Minnesota

Most property owners won’t go up on the roof of their building. They wait until something goes wrong, and then call a qualified Minneapolis Storm and roofing company to make repairs. The problem with this is that you may never know if they found the problem and fixed it correctly. Do you even know what kind of things can go wrong up on your roof?

One thing our professional roofing contractors will look for while they are up on a roof is to see if any venting pipes, chimneys or fans are not sealed properly. Even a small gap can allow plenty of water to enter the interior spaces of the building. Quarve Professional roofing team will reseal them if needed, and check to make sure all flashing is cemented to ensure there is no compromise.

Vents are another place to allow water into the building. If they move or wiggle around in their position, you will clearly need to hire a professional to secure this water tight seal. He will seal the base, and insert new screws or caps anywhere that they are needed.

A good roofing inspection will also include going into the attic to see if there are any water stains. Sometimes water leaks will get in here, but never make it all the way into the house, so they can go undetected for years. By entering the attic on a sunny day, inspectors should also be able to see any sunlight that is coming through, and he will know how to handle it one way or another. This light is often seen around chimneys, and vent pipes.

Roofing inspectors should also take note if there is proper ventilation for your roof. These roofing vents can even be added to older homes, and should be in order to extend their life. Keeping leaves out of gutters, trees trimmed away from the house, and even chemical washes that will help retard the growth of molds and mosses are all a good idea to get the most out of your roof, no matter what shape it’s in now.

If you would like to know more about what Quarve Contracting can do for you, and how we can bring new life to your roof with repairs or replacements, just give us a call; we will take good care of all your problems. 763-785-1472

All Insurance Claims Are Not Created Equal | Minneapolis St Paul Roofing Company

What makes the difference in getting a good insurance claim is not what company you are with nearly as much as what kind of adjuster you have. There are local adjusters that work directly for the insurance company, and then there are national independent representatives that come in as needed. Which one you get will make the difference between getting a satisfactory claim, and getting a small repair.

The local adjusters are on a salary, paid directly by the insurance company, so it is in their best interest to keep claims low, and move requests through quickly. The independent adjuster is free lance, and paid by commission, so he is motivated to get you everything you are entitled to. Consequently, claims settled by an  independent adjuster tend to be larger, and faster than those paid out by a local one.

Local adjusters also tend to be more diverse, working with auto claims, boat claims, mn storm repairs and the like, while independent adjusters are more industry specific. They often times travel to areas that have recently had some large, natural disaster in order to facilitate claims and help people get back to normal as soon as possible. He will be more likely to understand how claims work together, and the importance of authorizing a seemingly unrelated repair, because he understands that without this, the overall job might not be done completely right.

Another issue to watch out for is understanding the difference between damage, and neglect. Many people think that just because their home had a small amount of damage, they are entitled to a complete remodeling of their home. Obviously, this is not the case. The insurance industry is very aware of these actions, and has safety measures in place to help keep these issues in check. In order to get the best claim that you are entitled to, make sure you have an independent adjuster, be nice, and don’t expect a completely new house. If you do this, you will probably get at least 2 out of 3 in return.

If you need to make a claim for your properties roofing repairs, give us a call at Quarve Contracting. Our roofing estimates are free, and we will be able to deal with all your roofing insurance claims for you. 763-785-1472

TESTIMONIALS

After a hailstorm, we needed to repair our siding, fix our roof and replace some storm windows. We were fortunate to find Quarve as we couldn’t find another contractor who was willing to take on the entire job. The best part about with working with Pat Quarve was the attention to design detail. Quarve was also able to work with the insurance company to help negotiate a fair settlement.
Linda and Jim, Anoka

From the beginning, we had a very positive experience with Pat Quarve. It was less about the sale and more about how well Quarve was going to put the finishing touch on our project. We were also impressed at how well the crew worked together, as a team, efficiently doing the job right the first time! Should any prospective clients wish to see Quarve perfection, we invite them to come past our home and see for themselves.
Paul & Libbie, St Anthony

Denise and I want to let you know how pleased we are with our new roof. Even more important was the whole experience with your company. The crew was terrific as were the people in the office in helping us manage all of the communication and paperwork with the insurance company, mortgage company and the city. We would definitely work with you again and recommend you to others.
