If you're replacing your old, deteriorated or damaged roof, now is a great time to refresh your home's exterior with new color-coordinated soffit, fascia, and rain-handling systems. Quarve Contracting, one of the St. Paul/Minneapolis area's leading roofing contractors for over 27 years, also installs seamless steel soffit, fascia, and gutter systems.
When installed together properly, good quality soffit and fascia material is your home's first line of defense against damage from moisture (and resulting mold) entering your home's exterior structure beneath the roof and damaging the rafters. Although soffit and fascia are often referred to as a unit because they are designed to work together, they are two very different pieces of building material.
- Soffit covers the underside of your roof's eaves or overhang. Soffit also allows ventilation under the roof edge, which is important in preventing mold and mildew from developing.
- Fascia is the horizontal trim board that runs along the roof edge and covers the exposed end of the soffit. It acts as a barrier between the edge of your roof and the elements it is exposed to, especially moisture.
