Our Steel Roofs Transformed These Two Twin Cities Homes

Posted by at 8:00 AM

As a Minnesota roofing contractor specializing in the installation of steel roofing and siding, of course we're highly in favor of homeowners choosing steel when it comes time to have a new roof put on  Now, we could talk all we want about the benefits and how beautiful our roofing is, but we think you'll see for yourself when you look at some of our projects. In this post we're spotlighting two homes we worked on  - one in the Macalaster/Groveland area of St. Paul, and the other in South Minneapolis.  The owners of both these homes had problems in addition to needing new roofs, and we proposed steel roofing as the answer.  They both agreed. St. Paul Homeowners Chose Steel Roofing Instead of Asphalt

This St. Paul home is located in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood.  The home previously had an asphalt roof, and the owners didn't want that type of roofing anymore.  They were looking for a roofing solution that would last for years and that would shed snow.

Steel roofing qualifies on both counts.  Snow slides off easily from a steel roof and won't build up.  And because the expected lifespan of a steel roof is at least 40 years, this roof will likely outlast its owners.  The won't have to worry about roofing issues for the rest of their lives.  What a relief!

We installed ArrowLine® Shake Enhanced  steel roofing in Hartford Green on both the house and the garage.  This steel roofing has a beautiful weathered look that replicates real wood shakes, and it comes in 17 different colors.

Now this home is protected for decades, plus it looks beautiful.  And that gorgeous color will stay like that.  This roofing is guaranteed not to fade for at least 30 years.  Asphalt roofing can't make that claim!

South Minneapolis Home Gets a New Look with KasselWood Shake Steel Roofing In addition to needing a new roof, this home had issues with ventilation since the soffits were not vented.  As a part of our roof replacement, we removed the gutters to install vents by cutting into the fascia board, installing the vents, and putting the gutters back in place. Taking care of ventilation problems is often something we do as a part of our roofing work.  Good ventilation under a roof is important to keep the underlying structure as well as the home itself in the best condition. The roofing the owners chose was KasselWood Shake in Weathered Cedar.  This roof material also has the look of genuine wood shakes, but without all the drawbacks that a wood roof presents.  It won't need regular maintenance, it's fade resistant, it's noncombustible, and it won't rot or warp like real cedar shakes would. Kassel & Irons, the manufacturers of KasselWood steel roofing, lead the metal roofing industry with many of their innovative techniques and features.  One of those is the PDVF coating this steel roofing is finished with.  This roof will keep its beauty for years to come.

All our metal roof installations specify synthetic felt, which doesn’t absorb moisture, wrinkle or tear and last the life of a metal roof, unlike felt paper used on asphalt roofs. We also use high temp ice and water,  which seals around fasteners to prevent any water intrusion. We don't just install a new roof - we're committed to providing each home with a total roofing solution, and the materials we use are part of that overall package.

If you'd like to find out more about either of these steel roofing products and how they might solve problems you're having with your home, please give us a call for a free, no obligation consultation in your home. Or if you'd like you can check out some of our metal roof projects yourself - we've got quite a few listed on Google Maps.  Go out for a drive some day and see these beautiful roofs.
