Twin Cities Home Remodeling Tips: Projects to Help You Enjoy Your Summer

Posted by at 9:00 AM

Now that summer is here, and since it looks like most of us will be spending a lot more time close to home, why not consider some home remodeling that can help you get the most out of summer?  Here are a few of our ideas.

Summertime Remodeling Ideas

Real estate professionals are generally in agreement that home improvement dollars should first go to the exterior. After all, when it comes time to sell your home, that's what the buyers will look at first. The second reason is that the exterior of your home protects what's inside, so making sure you have the very best in roofing, siding, doors and windows should be considered as long-term 'insurance.' Lastly, exterior upgrades tend to pay off better than interior remodeling in terms of return on investment.
  1. Work from the top down - start with the roof.  Your roof is the most important aspect of your home's exterior, because it takes the brunt of the harsh weather.  First start with a roof inspection so you can get an idea of the shape it's in.  If it's coming close to needing a replacement, consider having a metal roof installed - it can keep your home cooler this summer while cutting your cooling bills. And come winter you'll appreciate how it sheds snow and resists ice dam formation.  Knowing this is the last roof you'll ever need will really help you relax!
  2. Put the strength of steel to work with our seamless steel siding. Steel siding offers many of the same benefits that our maintenance-free metal roofing does. It is incredibly durable and able to resist Minnesota weather, even our heavy wind-driven rains and hail. And since i requires very little in terms of maintenance, that's one less chore you can cross off your to-do list that eats up your free time.  Plus since it's seamless, it is a very energy-efficient siding material.
  3. Keep it cool with energy-efficient windows and exterior doors. Older windows and doors are often poor insulators, meaning your A/C will be running more than it needs to. We have a variety of great maintenance-free windows and doors that are extremely energy efficient and will help keep your home cool.  And again, you'll enjoy more free time with less maintenance tasks.
