The siding that you put on the outside of your home is going to make all the difference on how well it performs, especially as it relates to Minnesota weather. If the siding is made to prevent the cold and moisture from coming inside, it is going to provide you with a way to protect those living inside. Here are some of the options that are out there to choose from and which might be the best to go with for the siding on your home against those harsh winter weather elements. (And that will do the same when the sweltering, humid heat of summer hits us.)
Steel Siding: Steel siding is a great choice to go with when you want something protective of the outside of the home. It not only looks nice and comes in many colors and styles, but it can be a great choice for durability. . Seamless steel siding is our specialty (we do not recommend the use of aluminum siding, because it doesn't hold up well). We've been installing metal siding on homes in the Twin Cities area for decades. Lots of homeowners have learned just how terrific this siding option is. It is our first recommendation when we talk to prospective siding customers. Vinyl Siding: Vinyl siding is a low-cost siding option that is very popular. It's low maintenance and relatively inexpensive While vinyl is affordable and can protect the home, it is not always the best option to go with as it is not as waterproof as some may like. Wood Siding: There are those who believe that genuine wood is a great siding option for those that want a traditional or rustic look and appeal. But wood does a poor job at propelling water from away the home as well as the other available siding products. Sealing and paint is required, which makes this a higher maintenance choice and one that requires regular care. If you like the wood look, there are a number of low-maintenance siding products that are manufactured to resemble wood without the drawbacks real wood has. Fiber Cement Siding: Fiber cement is a strong option to go with for those that want something beautiful on the sides of the home. Fiber cement siding is durable, flame-resistant, and repels water. It is also highly resistant to damage from insects, rodents, and other pests. For those who don't want steel siding, this would be our recommendation. If you’re ready for new siding to protect the outside of your home, give us a call.
